Community Description
As Missouri’s capital city, Jefferson City’s economy is anchored by state government, but enhanced by a diverse and progressive business community.
Jefferson City boasts a local cost of living that is well below the national average, a low crime rate, and an emphasis on positive family values, making Jefferson City an increasingly popular place to live, play and raise a family. Jefferson City’s central location also offers the benefit of big city entertainment available less than two hours away in St. Louis and Kansas City. Just 40 minutes from the capital city, residents can enjoy water sports and recreation at the Lake of the Ozarks, which offers more shore line than the coast of California.
Jefferson City boasts outstanding public and private school systems which provide a solid educational foundation for students of all ages. The Jefferson City School District consists of 11 public elementary schools, two middle schools, and Jefferson City High School. The city’s parochial and private schools include seven Catholic and two Lutheran schools, all of which offer exceptional education for students. Also, in order to meet the growing need in our community, Jefferson City has planned a new high school to open in the fall of 2019.
With two hospitals, nine long-term care facilities, a vast number of primary care physicians, and a myriad of specialty physicians providing care in nearly every specialty area, the medical community is committed to providing quality health care that is close to home.
Jefferson City is a growing, dynamic and diverse community. We are proud of all our community has to offer.
